# Agents (beta)

> Run coding agent CLIs like Claude Code and Codex from Termique, on your computer or on a host, and approve each step from your phone.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Agents is not released yet.** It is in private beta and is not in any public version of the desktop app (the latest is `0.8.2`). It ships in a future release. Until then, this page describes how it works in the beta, and screens and options may still change. [Join the waitlist](https://termique.app/agents/) to hear when it is available.

Agents runs the coding agent CLIs you already use inside Termique. You chat with the agent, approve its edits and commands, and review its changes in one place. A session can run in a folder on this computer or in a folder on a host over SSH. Termique does not bring its own AI model: each agent uses your own account and limits.

## Supported agents

| Agent | Chat in Termique | Its own terminal UI | Images in chat |
| - | - | - | - |
| Claude Code | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Codex | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Grok | Yes | No | Yes |
| Gemini CLI | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| OpenCode | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Antigravity | No | Yes | No |
| Claude Code agent teams | No | Yes | No |
| Kilo Code | No | Yes | No |
| Hermes | No | Yes | No |

Every agent except Claude Code and Codex is marked **Experimental**: it works, but gets less testing during the beta.

* Antigravity has no supported protocol for chat yet, so it always opens in its own terminal UI.
* Claude Code agent teams only run in an interactive session, so they open in Claude Code's terminal UI with agent teams turned on.
* OpenCode allows every edit and command by default. Termique starts it with permissions set to ask, so its requests come to you.

## Requirements

* The agent CLI is installed and signed in, on this computer or on the host. **Settings → Agents → Agent CLIs** shows each CLI, with **Install**, **Sign in** and **Update** when one is missing or out of date.
* For a session on a host, the host is already added in Termique. `tmux` on the host keeps a session running after you disconnect.

## Start a session

1. Click **Agents** next to **Servers** at the top of the sidebar.
2. Click **New project**. Pick **This computer** and a folder, or **SSH host**, a host and a folder on it.
3. Set **Name** and **Default agent**. For a local git repo, turn on **Each session gets its own git worktree**, then click **Add project**.
4. Open the project, describe the task, pick the agent and the permission mode, and click **Start**.

You can also open the **+** menu and pick an agent under **New chat with**. **In its own terminal** in the same menu opens an agent straight in its terminal UI: Claude Code agent teams, OpenCode, Kilo Code and Hermes.

## Permission modes

New sessions start in **Manual**: every edit and command waits for you.

| Mode | What the agent can do without asking |
| - | - |
| Manual | Nothing. Every edit and command asks first. |
| Plan | Read and propose a plan. Nothing is edited until you approve it. |
| Auto | Run safe reads and tests. Edits and other commands still ask. |
| Accept edits | Edit files. Commands still ask. Not available for OpenCode and Grok. |

A request shows as a card in the chat with **Allow once**, **Always allow**, **Deny** or **Tell it what to do instead**. Commands on a host, deletes and pushes always ask, whatever the mode.

## Images

Paste a screenshot with `Cmd+V`, drop images from Finder onto the chat, or attach them with **+**. You can send up to `10` images per message. Before you send, remove one from its thumbnail. After you send, click one to view it.

* Large images are scaled down to `2000` px on the longest side and kept under `3.75 MB`. GIFs are sent as they are.
* Images reach an agent on a host the same way, without a separate upload, and show again when you reopen the session.
* The mobile app shows that a message had images, not the images themselves.

## Worktrees, review and merge

With worktrees on, each session works on its own `agent/` branch in its own git worktree, so two sessions never edit the same checkout. When the agent is done, open **Review changes** to read the diff, leave notes on lines and send them back. **Merge** brings the branch into your branch.

## Sessions on a host

A project can be a folder on a host. Termique connects over SSH, starts the agent there and keeps it running inside `tmux`, so a dropped connection or a sleeping laptop does not stop it.

## From your phone

Sign in on the [mobile app](https://docs.termique.app/mobile.md) to see your sessions, answer questions, approve commands and start new chat sessions.

* A newly signed-in phone can only view until you allow it on your computer.
* Risky requests (deletes, pushes, anything on a host) ask for Face ID first.
* Messages between your computer and your phone are end-to-end encrypted. The Termique backend passes them on but cannot read them.

## Experimental features

**Race** (one task sent to several agents, each in its own worktree), the **Supervisor** (steps in when a session loops, stalls or runs out of room) and **Automations** (prompts on a schedule) are off by default during the beta. Turn them on in **Settings → Agents → Experimental features**.

While they are off, the Supervisor does not act and scheduled runs do not start on this computer. An automation already on a host's schedule keeps running there until you remove it.

## Plans

| | Free | Pro |
| - | - | - |
| Sessions | 1 at a time, on this computer | Side by side, and on hosts |
| Race, Supervisor, Automations | No | Yes |
| Approve from your phone | Yes | Yes |

See [Plans](https://docs.termique.app/plans.md) for pricing.

## Limitations

* Only Claude Code can switch model and effort from the session menu.
* Antigravity, Kilo Code, Hermes and Claude Code agent teams have no chat view.
* Grok's terminal UI can't continue a conversation started in chat.
* Windows is not verified yet.
